Project: Dupplin Solar Farm
Introduction
Dupplin Solar Farm is expected to generate up to 97m Kilowatt hours(kWh) of renewable energy per year
Status
Planning submitted to ECU
Size
97.8MWp
About the project
- Dupplin Solar Farm will comprise solar panels with a build out size of around 97.8 MW of renewable energy each year.
- Approximately 128,688 solar panels will be sensitively spread across the site. They will sit around 2.5 feet off the ground, facing south at an angle of up to 20°.
- The project will generate enough energy to power over 40,000 homes per year. The development will supply power directly into the grid via an underground cable to the Burghmuir substation, Perth.
- A community benefit package will be available for locals to spend according to their own priorities, throughout the lifespan of the project.
- As Dupplin Solar Farm capacity exceeds 50MW, it is deemed ‘nationally significant’. Consent will be sought from the Scottish Ministers in early 2026.
- Dupplin Solar Farm is developed by BLC Energy and owned by TRIO Power Limited. TRIO is backed by the Octopus Renewable Infrastructure Trust (ORIT), a fund managed by Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN). OEGEN is one of the largest renewable energy investors in Europe, managing more than 230 large-scale green energy projects with a combined capacity of 3.25 GW.
Community benefit
Dupplin Solar Farm will generate an annual community benefit fund worth £500 for every megawatt (MW) of export capacity on site, equating to £48,750 per annum for the project life.
The Dupplin Solar Farm will work with the local community council to establish how the communities local to the project wish to manage this benefit fund. BLC Energy and ORIT would like to offer £500 MW per annum split into 2 funds. One to support local projects, one to be given as grants to local households struggling with cost of living increases, loss of winter fuel payment etc. This equates to £48,750 per annum.

Public engagement
We are committed to maintaining open communication channels with local communities, councils, and other stakeholders, to discuss the project's development and the use of the community benefit fund.
- The first public exhibition took place on 27 August 2025, at Methven Town Hall, Methven. An online presentation took place a few days later to allow members of the public the chance to ask questions.
- The second public exhibition took place on 3 December, at Methven Town Hall.
- An online presentation took place in the evening on 5th December 2025.
- A supplementary survey was organised and conducted to gain further understanding from residents in January 2026.
- If you would like to ask any further questions, please email us using the contact information below.
