Binn public exhibition reveals ideas for community benefit fund

7 July 2025

Around 20 people attended the first exhibition for the proposed Binn Solar and BESS Farm on land 4km northwest of Strathmiglo and 5km northeast of Glenfarg, in Perth and Kinross.

The public exhibition was held at Glenfarg Community Centre on Wednesday 25 June  2025.

Exhibition boards provided a summary of the current proposal, and attendees were encouraged to provide feedback.

Bin Solar and BESS Farm will comprise around 30MW of solar energy and 6MW of battery storage.

The project will generate the equivalent renewable energy required by over 15,400 homes, and will supply power directly into the grid via the Abernethy substation.

It complements the Binn Ecopark initiative to bring new green companies and investment into the area by providing a strong foundation of renewable power.

Neil Lindsay, managing director of BLC Energy, said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who attended the in person and online exhibitions.

“It was very useful to get feedback directly from the local community, which will help us shape the proposal before it is submitted to Perth and Kinross Council later this year.

“We had quite a few suggestions about how local people would like to spend the community benefit fund, including supporting increased provision of the community bus and extending or refurbishing the community centre.”

BLC Energy will hold a second public exhibition at Glenfarg Community Centre on 10th October 2025 , and online on Monday 13 October 2025.
